Calls for addressing the increasing amount of space debris and managing space orbits more sustainably are getting increasingly louder, but no clear path exists at the EU level for a responsible, sustainable, and safe management of space for all space actors. The EU actively pursues a range of initiatives on several fronts to strengthen the EU industry, create a level playing field, and promote common rules and initiatives for space actors to ensure the long-term preservation of space. The Commission invites space operators, manufacturers, surveillance actors and space debris experts to share their views on what is needed to achieve fair, safe, and sustainable access to, operations in, and return from space for generations to come.
